That’s my life in Holland… And bitterballen are the symbol of it. What are them? Well, bitterballen are these ugly fat meatballs without any meat in them, and Dutch people eat them before dinner with floods of beer. What could I do, other than adapting myself?

This site is about bitterballen. But it’s also about the life of an Italian aerospace engineer who spent most of his life outside of Italy, and who is trying to patch together the best bits and pieces from each culture he was in contact with.

This blog is for you, my dear friends, because you are so spread around the world that I believe this is the only way to keep a thread connecting you. This is also the reason why this blog will be in English. But feel free to use any other language if you’re not comfortable with it. I might understand you somehow :-)

I took the main photograph today, at a beautiful “borrel” with some colleagues. When I saw this dish, I just said “this is it! It is going to be the symbol of my blog…”.

The big work will now be keeping this blog up to date, and I am eager to read comments from you! Don’t disappoint me!
